Meet Lisa
Born with East Coast roots, but raised in the suburbs of Madison, Wisconsin, Lisa grew up on a steady diet of John Hughes movies, MTV, Madonna, and way too much sugar - a Gen X origin story.
She studied film in college and landed in Chicago, where she cut her teeth in documentary film production. Then 9/11 changed everything. Like a lot of people in that moment, she questioned everything and decided to become a history teacher in Chicago Public Schools for a decade, collecting more stories.
That front-row seat to real life - messy, funny, heartbreaking and mundane, shaped the way she writes. With an eye for the beauty in everyday people, the weight of small moments, and the relationships that quietly define us. Now Lisa works in international educational travel sales, she's still drawn to the places where learning and storytelling collide.
Sentimental and nostalgic, her work channels the emotional honesty of Cameron Crowe and the sharp, lived-in warmth of Greta Gerwig. She's drawn to historical settings but writes about timeless things — the awkward, tender, ridiculous stuff that makes life hilarious.
If she had a superpower, it would be time travel. Until then, she'll keep writing her way back.
She lives with her musician husband and her dogs, who are, without question, incredible.
